Privacy

The First Cohort is a static publication. We do not run advertising trackers. When you request a newsletter subscription, your email address is sent to Resend to deliver the confirmation message. If you confirm, the address is stored in our own database (Cloudflare D1) and used to deliver the newsletter through Resend. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every issue.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile, recipient-domain checks, and short per-IP rate limits to protect the signup form from automated abuse. Cloudflare may process standard request and device information to decide whether a submission is legitimate. Submissions rejected by these anti-abuse checks are not sent to Resend or stored as subscribers.

We keep our analytics light. When you click links in our emails we record the click pseudonymously (an unguessable per-issue code, never your address) to see which stories landed; that data expires automatically after about 90 days. On the website we count aggregate page views and where visitors arrive from. We set no advertising cookies, sell nothing, and store no personal profile.

Server logs from our hosting provider may record standard request metadata (IP, user agent) for security and performance. We do not sell reader data.
